Spring Carmel-by-the-sea Vist

We recently made are spring time trip to Carmel-by-the-sea and this was the inaugural trip for Proton the Dog. As usual, we have to pose the dogs on Scenic Rd. overlooking the beach.

Here they are walking on the trail at Garland Ranch. This photo is deceiving because Proton rarely walked so nicely next to Kargo! Most of the time, she ran ahead until she couldn't see us and then waited before running ahead again.

And here they are on the beach. Proton normally avoids all water. She doesn't even like the smallest rain puddles and has to jump over them or walk around them. We figured she would avoid the ocean but surprise, surprise, she LOVES the ocean and running along the edge of the water. Also, we discovered that she's a very powerful swimmer because she literally flew into the water to chase after some geese and could swim out and back with amazing skill. Her recall on the beach is pretty abysmal but luckily, she only runs out as far as she can see us, which is 500-700 feet away, but at least she comes back. Oh well, much more recall training is needed.
